Revealed: Winners of the 2018 FAI Young Artists Contest
‘Flying into the Future’ was the theme of the 2018 FAI Young Artist Contest. This year’s contest saw 16 member countries participate, with talented youngsters interpreting the brief in an eye-catching range of artworks.
The FAI sought to inspire the youngsters to reflect upon the possibilities of future flight, asking: “What new innovations and ideas will shape the aviation of the future? From hang gliders and parachutists, to drone pilots and citizen astronauts, the only limit to the future of flight is the imagination of builders, dreamers and pilots of today.”
The countries represented in this year’s contest were Switzerland, Belarus, China, Finland, Russia, USA, Bulgaria, India, Czech Republic, Turkey, Poland, Japan, Hong Kong, Lithuania, United Kingdom and France.
The 2018 winners, each of whom has been award with FAI Young Artists medals and diplomas, were Aryav Sheth, USA (Junior), Molly Wu, USA (Intermediate) and Ge Shi, CHN (Senior).

About the FAI Young Artists Contest
The FAI Young Artists Contest has been organised every year since 1986. It is an international art contest for youngsters between the ages of 6 and 17.
FAI Members organise either a national competition or another similar process of selection for the young people resident in their respective countries. The national winning paintings are then submitted to the International Jury. A different theme is chosen every year to inspire the young artists and reflect the many facets of air sports.
To take part, FAI Member countries must first organise either a national competition or another process of selection. The winning paintings from each country are then submitted to the FAI International Jury.
